WHAT WE DO
Lord Howe Environmental Tours was established in 1998 by Dean and Roslyn Hiscox.
Our vision: to showcase the amazing natural values of Lord Howe Island.
Our focus: the preservation and sustainability of Lord Howe Island’s unique natural environment.
Our history: Commencing operation with coral viewing and snorkelling tours from our two glass bottom boats, in 2005 we expanded our operations to include the Mt Gower Trek as well as a number of other adventure-based activities.
Our directors: Dean and Roslyn are deeply connected to the Island and its history. Dean has played an integral part in the way in which the island has been managed through his 16 year tenure as the Lord Howe Island Ranger. This extensive experience in the management of the island’s natural environment has helped in developing a range of high quality tours that showcase the incredible beauty and diversity of Lord Howe Island’s marine and terrestrial environments.
Roslyn is a 5th generation Lord Howe Islander and has a passion for the Island’s cultural and natural heritage. Her strong Island identity has helped the company to develop tours that acknowledge the Islands unique heritage.
Our family: Lord Howe Environmental Tours is a Family Business, with 3 generations contributing to its operation. Ken and Jill (Dean’s Parents) played and integral part in the early years of the business with Jill manning the boatshed and Ken operating the Coral Princess. Today, Dean and Kayla (Dean and Roslyn’s daughter) guide boat and mountain tours, whilst Roslyn keeps everything else on an even keel.
Our boats: Both our Glass bottom boats (The Coral Princess and The Coral Empress) were purchased from Island families and were constructed on the Island in the late 1960’s.
